Venomous
Mild discomfort
Like all New World tarantulas it is shy and quick to retreat; bites are very rare and cause only brief local pain and swelling. Its urticating hairs can irritate skin and especially eyes, so watch it without touching it and avoid rubbing your eyes after any contact.
